Absolutely Hugh. We'll respect the vote of the people unless we get the wrong answer, in which case we'll go for a re-run. I like your thinking
The more astute will have noticed that I didn't recon Mullingar. Reason? - overnighter there isn't cheap: http://www.mullingarparkhotel.com/in...e=reservations Maybe if I try and find somewhere else in the locality for the overnight stayers, near this hotel, so's we still use the park hotel for the actual meet?

Ahh Bafflier, we're just trying to make it look fair, we've been steering the whole thing to the 21st for a long time
Ahal, as for a place to lay my hat overnight, a B&B would probably be just perfect as long as there is somewhere near-by for a few beverages to help me sleep

Doing recon
Okay, I'm grabbing the camera and heading out to Mullingar today, will take some snaps and do some route plotting. Hopefully we'll end up with something like this ( only nicer cars ) ...

Ah yes, the Cannonball run. I see someone decided to enter their VW Golf... looked a bit out of place between all the Bentleys and Lamborghinis!!
The 21st would suit me fine too. I am planning an oil change this weekend in preparation! Keep in mind Tony that there are some great deals in hotels at the moment. Often very little in difference in price between some hotels and B+B's. I dont know how they compete to be honest.

Hi Mark, Check out ahal's post above, #31. On the hotel web site there is a google map. That should do it.

Hi, just back ( phew! - traffic jams! )
Found a nice hotel for €50 a night with parking bang in the middle of the town, and nice venue for a bit of sightseeing if desired. Didn't do spectacularly well on photogenic stops on the route I took, but anyways I'll be back after much desired cuppa. Will show ye photo's / potential route. Cheers, Tony.

Hotel / Route / Photos
Right, coffee done. The Hotel is The Greville Arms Hotel, as previously stated it's right in the middle of the town: http://www.grevillearmshotel.ie/
Prices €50 per night incl. brekkie for single room. Double is €80. It looks a nice enough place - somewhere between worn and luxurious if ye know what I mean. Completely inoffensive. The car park is at the back and indeed I should've checked it out ( will ring them ) to find out where access is, because parking outside is kind of impossible ( very busy ). I'm thinking we meet in the carpark, then head out in the direction of the Belvedere House & gardens. Huge car park there, beautiful grounds ( though sadly can't be driven around much - great photo op. all the same ). Tbh it was a bit too late when I got going, so all I managed to do from there was go to Tyrrelstown - 3 km. of lovely hazardous bends! - and back. If anyone knows the area and want to improve the plan, by all means So provisionally, here's the route ... basically a run from Mullingar about 25 mintues, a loop, and 25 minutes back ( with stop @ Belvedere on the way out ). It took me about 90 minutes from Bray. Good road, mostly Motorway. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...UK&ie=UTF8&z=8 €2.90 is needed for the toll on the way out and back. I'm not sure from the North, but you can be almost certain there's some way of 'snaring' Northerners too! ( and southerners shopping up north! ) And on to the photo's ... not a great day for piccies lol but I have to say it was most enjoyable. The photo's are crap and don't do it justice!
