Hmmm....on the basis of my (and others') earlier posts, I reckon £850 is a pretty realistic price for that car.

I was willing to go to a grand, as not to far away, and turbo Auto (wife only drives auto, and factor in if traveling long distance to get a car would spend money getting there and back), but as he refused to drop below £1500, gave up,

to most now, even enthusiasts they have to be cheap, to factor in the running/maintenance/repair costs

He seems to have misread my post about the Vegas being 'worth £800'. Yeah, back in 1990, that's what they retailed at.

I checked my Paypal records last night, and I got my perfect set with nearly new Goodyear Eagle F1s all round for £302 delivered to my door from Germany.

I don't rate the auto Turbos much, to me the ratios aren't well suited to the engine - others may disagree with me. Losing part of the engine to a slushbox really limits the appeal of this car although I hadn't considered buyers with an auto-only license.

Uber minters seem to be going for about £1500 - 2000, and this one looks good to average, although the pictures are fairly sh*te. £850 seems fair but he seems to be holding out for more.

Hate to say it, but it would probably break for between £600 and £800 depending on how much he got for the engine, body panels and wheels.

Well he does say were worth £800 but lets be honest they don't add a penny to the value of the car!

There is one of these on ebay right now for £595 buy it now with the same mileage, colour, spec and similar condition but it doesn't have an mot. I can't imagine it'd require £905 worth of work spending to make it good.

As already stated, and in my opinion this car is worth under £1000. No 480 with rusty arches is worth more!

Take some proper photos Drew, cleaned inside and out in the daylight and bung the full 12 photos on ebay (how people expect to sell a car for top dollar with rubbish pics is beyond me!) and you might have someone bite

I must admit, I do feel a little sorry for this fella, although I don't know why?!

Firstly, from the looks of things, he's joined purely to sell his car, which infuriates me in itself, thinking that as "Enthusiasts" we will be prepared to pay top dollar.

Where as in reality we know what they are really worth, which unfortunately isn't very much. If he knew what I paid for my Celebration, in much better condition, with the arches already done, I think he'd be in for a shock!

Let's look at the facts, it's a 480 turbo auto, with a few of the usual electrical gremlins that we all know of - lazy pop-ups, dodgy info centre, dodgy heated seats to name three, then there are holes in the front bumper that any prospective owner would need sorting out if he/she decided they didn't need to park the car at the edge of a cliff to warn ships of their impending doom.

On the other hand, it has Vesa wheels which likely cost around £800 when new... Erm, am I missing something here? - I've got 3 sets of wheels for mine, ok so none are Vesas, but when new they probably would have added up to around £1500, but does that make my 480 worth £1500 more than it would without them? No. (The clue to my opinion of the car's value is there if you reed between the lines!)

Unfortunately, as I'm sure has already been said, 480s - quirky as they are, fall into that "Special" catagory of cars at the moment, sandwiched nicely between bangers and classics.

Having said all that, it is his car and he is entitled to ask as much as he likes. after all, any car is worth as much as a prospective buyer is willing to pay, so you never know.

I wish him all the luck in the world.

Steve

Have resisted the temptation to reply to this thread for sooo long as I dont believe in raining on anothers parade but £1500 for a non mint 480 with the usual problems is a very high price , as for the wheels I had 7 of them stacked at the side of my house now only 3 so they are not worth that much now . Even the £595 ebay one in Motherwell is over priced imho

I paid £800 for a full mot on a 1.7 NA 92 plate 33k genuine miles with history in VGC (most I have ever paid) 2 years ago.

My daughters M reg celeb cost £560 again full mot and a few months tax in vgc and mileage a little above 53k.

480 m reg turbo project £250

480 2ltr m reg full leather interior £100 came with mot and 4 months tax

I watch the cost of 480s keenly on a regular basis so £1500 is way out of line .

As for the worth of a 480 broken for spares well realistically its about £300. The rest of the value will sit in your shed till the world ends.
