A mere £3,750 now - another 2 years at this rate of decline should see it down to what it is worth:

That means the Rover V8 is ~25% more powerful and ~50% more torque plus you get that V8 soundtrack. Much better than a B23E!

OK edit here are the weights approximate depending on years spec etc Volvo B230 iron block 365 pounds or 166 kg Rover V8 alloy block 318 pounds or 145 kg Chevy 350 iron block 575 pounds or 261 kg that said similar power outputs are possible and comes down to tuning mods but the V8 sound is never coming froim a 4 cylinder motor

It is a bit, i forget the exact figures but 150kg Vs 200kg for the V8 Vs redblock rings a dim and distant bell. I think the B23 was marginally heavier than the B230 as well so even more of a difference - that's only the weight of a good feed from the Chinese takaway though so not worth taking into account.

Also that V8 could be a mid 80's range rover motor or and then its only 128 BHP

It also has a 4-barrel Holley (usually good for about 30bhp on its own) and a high lift cam of unspecified origins. Should be nudging 200bhp if set up right.

I know nothing of this Rover V8 business - I'm just seeing a shed of a 240 saloon with plenty of rust in the rear wheel arches and doors, and what appears to be non-metallic paint (so it is probably a DL) that has been sitting in the farmer's field since 2009. I'd say its value was £500 - are you two saying that because of the Rover V8 motor it is actually worth £3,750 (or there about)? Alan

On the other hand, if it was a going concern, looking tidy and on the road with a current MoT and an Engineers Report to prove what the insurers will want then £3750 would possibly be nearer the real value. That said, many people wouldn't want the V8 conversion so it's a bit of a swings and roundabouts situation. Once upon a time i would have almost killed for that kind of conversion but these days i'd look for a more moern engine than the POB/Rover V8 such as the 1UZ Toyota/Lexus 4.0 V8. I'd also prefer to do the conversion myself so i knew it was done right.
