Ross your now actually the 3rd member of this forum to own that car.
http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...ghlight=banana The irony is the original owner only lived 60 miles away from you. He was good chap aswell, like Stewy is. And it was him who started the yellow thing, so I think you have insulted 2 members now who are held in high esteem on this forum so if you want any help in future I'd stop slagging them off.

As it clearly has not sunk in your head the car was driven for 20 minutes on friday with NO oil light and hopefully the guy who drove it will read this and confirm it.
You bitch and moan about the chavy yellow parts, sunstrip, k&n filter, dump valve but these were all in the advert WITH pictures so if you hate it all why bother even asking about the car. You didnt need to buy it either and as to saying my mate wouldnt take you back to airport he was told to pick you up Sunday morning at 11 on his 1 day off he gets then you realise you ****ed up and he needed to be there at 9am on sunday but he still collected you. You could have not bought car and either offered him petrol or got a train/taxi. And Grant the real nice guy i bought it from never mentioned some things wrong with the car which i fixed but i still bought it and never moaned cos it was MY decision to buy it and sort the faults. I even offered you £50 back but i think you just waved goodbye to that after your question "how is stewyp a good guy?"

I wouldn't worry stewy, it wouldn't stop me buying from you if you had something i needed
I reckon he is just after some money back,Did you or your mates hold a shotgun to his head and force him to pay? As for his excuse of he would not be able to get home other wise, I think i would of just cut me losses and refused to buy it. |

Oh and the tacky eyebrows and the tinted rear lights. You pretty much slagged off the whole car from just seeing the pictures so why even bother looking lol
Also like to say if i was aware of the low coolant in header tank why would i put it in the advert anyway i would of just topped it up so clearly was not aware of the coolant in header tank being low or the oil cos i had spare oil in my garage.... Simples.....

You have already referred to stewy as "an idiot" and openly slated a car that you bought due to the fact "you had to get home"..................then strangely enough the (crappy) car got you home without any problems. You also state you wish you had only paid £500 for the car, you happily parted with your cash at the time of the sale otherwise you would have walked away and as above got a taxi, bus train etc. Seems to me you just want to have a good whinge at the expense of the seller, do yourself a favour and do it privately. |

Everybody has different views on what is an acceptable standard in a second hand car, which is pretty clear from this thread.
It's 12 years old with astronomical mileage, and offered at £650. It's clear from the photos and history on these forums that it has been modified (read: messed around with) by previous owners. There is no way in hell I would fly the length of the country to buy a £650 car. At £650 I would expect a few things wrong with it. If you want a brand new car with no modifications and no issues then you go to the dealer and buy one with 0 miles on the clock. Having said that, I wouldn't fly the length of the country to buy a new car. However, I think it's one of those life experiences to buy a second hand car you're not 100% happy with. I had an Astra that I hated from the first tankful to the point where I weighed it in. I doubt you'll make the same mistake twice. Nobody forced you to buy the car either. If it really was as crap as you say you could have just gone back to the Railway Station/Airport and put the wasted journey/cash down to experience. Ross, finally: I hope you manage to put the things "wrong" with the car "right", or at least to your satisfaction. |
