i had xenons on my previous car and didn't have a problem fitting the adjustment patches to them. managed to drive about 2000 miles around france in all conditions without issue.

btw, i drove in france with the xc60 earlier in the month, and kept forgetting to change the pattern (has to be done every journey). nobody flashed me through... maybe they were shrugging in their cars and i couldn't see them!

I was told not to use deflectors due to the heat the lights create. I've done over 34k with my lights set to the wrong side. Going to be a bit of a pain if I'm going to have to select R/H on starting the car every trip, I've presently got a MY10 and you only have to do it once, normally at Eurotunnel/the ferry. Pick up a new one in a few weeks to bring out back here, not looking forward to having to swap them every trip.

So it looks like MY10 on XC60s with the active bendy lights no longer benefit from the lower centre console button that permits permanent changeover LH/RH until the button is pressed (for 5 seconds +) again...and now it is done by software only temporarily changed until the engine is restarted and then it reverts back to home country setting...

What a pain...I too spend a lot of time in Europe and have never forgotten to change the direction using the button on my XC90 whenever I am back in blighty and vice versa...because I get a nice message on the dash each time I start the car telling me what side my lights are set for...which once read is easily acknowledged...

I was all set to consider a MY13 XC60 T6 (in the absence of a V8 in the Volvo XC range anymore) but now what with this, the 5+ hours software upgrade and all the other niggles I've been reading about...I think it's back to BMW for a X5 V8...maybe even a RRS SC V8...

I can only speak for my M11.5 XC60 when I say that its ABL Xenons do not need to be set for RH driving on every restart.

Last summer the lights were changed over via the My Car menu while on the Chunnel train and stayed that way (I checked. Often), with no further button-pushing required, for the whole two weeks we were in France.

Thumbs down Xc60 my12 vor

2nd XC60 with the same problem. Jo Bright at Volvo UK Customer Support says that Volvo UK are not interested in whether I dislike the functionality of the constant RH reset as no one else has ever complained!!!

My XC60 MY10 is the same, reset the light via the menu to RH each time you start the car. I have just come back from 6 weeks in Italy and only ever switch to RH when driving at night. I had nobody flash me. I also complained to Volvo.

Hmmm - this is a pain.

I've been playing with my MY12 XC60 to try and figure this out because I'm heading over to the continent later in the month.

The option seems to be greyed out for me so I was assuming it was linked to the satnav - i.e. the XC60 knows which side of the road you should drive on. But I wasn't at all confident about that assumption which is why I searched on these forums.

Looks like I might have to have a bit more of play with this to figure it out.

That would be really clever, but unfortunately it does not work like that.

You do have the xenon lights and had the engine running?
