Induction temperature is critical (why do you think they have intercoolers on turbos!) - we put a Ram-Air scoop and pipework on a Nissan Micra....we got 10mph more out of the top end...

I've fancied putting a K&N on top of my carb and using a (subtle) bonnet scoop to get ram-air (obviously with the carb-rejetted).

Kev Strong has water injection on his 360...certainly seems like a good idea!

cheers

James

Now your being mean, i get my mum on my back when i am going 5-10 kph under the speed limit, and when she isnt gettin a lift off me, i get a warning for doing 1kph (1/2 mph) over the speed limit... he was originally going to book me for it! :P

BTW... I'm happy now, found a "b230f" while looking for a washer pump, is this the same as a b230ft? or does the t mean turbo, cause i couldnt see a turbo on it?. The wrecker wants $800 for it, though i'm gonna hit him up when i reach $650-$700 and look for better deal in the meantime, What will need to be adjusted to fit in the 2.3 when i get it?

Obviously, this was on a private test-track ;) (read: the A52 in the middle of the night). To be fair, I got pulled over doing 36 in a 30 on a deserted road in the middle of the night. Still, rules are rules...

The 360 speedo is miles out anyway....I tested it on a 'you are doing XX mph...slow down' speed trap (what a great idea....don't they realise people just see how fast they can set those things off?!). I had to do 45mph on my speedo to get it to read 40 on its screen.

Cable speedos tend to over-read below 60, and under-read above 60.

B230F is a 2.3 injection with a catylitic convertor.
E = Injection
F = Inj with cat
T = Turbo

To get it to fit (and I'm quoting Mark Higgins here!), you need to use the sump pan and oil pump from the 360's B200, and assuming you're using a turbo, you'll need custom engine mounts (make them strong), and a custom downpipe. I can't think of much more, but make sure you've got your fuel pump sorted. I'm sure someone will jump in to correct me / add other suggestions.

cheers

James

Apparently you can use the right rear door handles, just needs a slight mod to fit the locking mechanism. Or so I'm told. Owning a 360 in Australia is a major test of ones commitment.

I would imagine you could drill out a hole and add the linkages, but there'd be no tube for the barrel to sit in. It certainly makes it easy to de-lock it!

I thought about investigating custom making a stronger alternative - probably welded mild steel finished in black - the problem is that chrome is too weak to last in that design. When I run out of handles I might pick that up again!

cheers

Got the door handle fixed, its the easiest door to open now.

LOL, aint that the truth, iv'e cursed myself for buying the car tenfold over sometimes, the only reason i havent got rid of it is cause its a unique car, everyone down here sees holdens and fords cruzin round all the time, but get curious when mine goes past, if nothin else than to ask where i get my "headlights" from (i got blue parker lights)... Volvo 360 = Poor Mans Ferrari ^_^

Parts are definately few and far between for the model though, up in Brisbane there are only 3 at the wreckers, and only 2 are good for parts, and thats the closest supplier of parts (~600k's away).

Also, how much can a b23f be bored out and stroked?

Finally, i think i might just rip the airbox out and replace it with some wide piping, at least until i save enough for a ram pod filter and some heat shielding, Will an intercooler work without a turbo?

300s are still common here (at least in breakers....becoming more rare on the roads) - if there's anything light you're desperate for I guess someone could air-mail it...

Most people here are used to 300s being 1.4 automatic 340s, hence when they line up against something that looks almost the same but can shift, they get a shock! Had a guy in a 'modified' (read: it had big alloys) Peugeot 306 on my rear bumper yesterday...left him for dead off the line, and he was a little more respectful after that. Trouble is, its not quick enough to deal with anything that's actually fast...

AFAIK, you can buy a Holden here for the first time next year - its one of the hot HSV models, sold through Vauxhall (GM) dealers.

I don't have a clue about the B23....although I'd say bore it rather than extending its stroke any more....you're gonna want thing to rev, as it'll have quite enough torque already!

Intercooler is pretty pointless without a turbo. I have the carb version of the 360, so my plan is a little different, but with an injection one it kinda depends on whether or not you wanna keep the hot-air feed from the radiator. I guess you're not too fussed, given where you're located! In that case, I'd be tempted to make a cold air feed from behind the grille/below bumper (or maybe from a bonnet scoop?) to feed a free-flow filter. The most important thing is to keep the air from around the hot engine away from the intake.

cheers

James

Unique indeed, I just like it when people walk up to your car with a puzzled look on their face, walk around it, and seeing the VOLVO badge, laugh, shake their head and walk off. I've been asked if was a Saab.

What year is yours? I know that '86 on are near impossible to find stuff for, especially at the wreckers. But the earlier ones seem a bit more common, there's a good place I know for them in Brisbane, unfortunately I drive an '86, so it's useless to me.

600k's from Brisbane, where does that leave you?

Lonewolf says somewhere further up where he is in Oz (I think), while the rest of us are in the UK.

Funnily enough, post-86 cars are way more common here...probably because all the pre-86 cars are mostly rusted...

cheers

Default My Former 360 GLT project car

It WAS a 84 model,

Heading home last night, car must have aquaplaned or something going around a sweeper, lost grip, ended up spinning round and into a tree in a 100kph zone, apparently we hit sideways, though it felt like we went into it backwards.

Everyones shocked we werent injured any more than we were, i got a nice belt bruise and 2 small cuts, the guy closest to the tree had about the same, a few more nics cause his window shattered, and the other guy got 2 bruises on face from headbutting back of drivers seat

Havent seen the car yet, but aside from the passenger side pillar collapsing a foot from the tree impact, the car apparently held up alright, though its still reached the end of its days.
