Perhaps the extreme heat of Portugal/Spain makes it worse as I've never seen it on a 97/98 UK car. I've had perfect door cards of three 97/98 cars and the one I sent to Luke ( also 98 )was wrinkle free

Must be that. And this was a garage car for all of its 24 years too... But Barcelona gets really hot.

Thanks for all of the super helpful replies. Good to know that there is another good reason to buy a car with AC, not sure I could put up with going back to a non AC car now anyway.
On a separate note what a great forum this is. Bit different to some of the other marques.

When my AC worked for 5 months it worked really well, nice and cold. Spent £350 so far on it, with repairs and AC recharge. I feel the heat anyway, plus last year fitted a full leather interior! I use my Toyota Auris if hot!

This forum I find very helpful and a good place to get used parts. Must come to a meet.

James.

It would have to be a senior member answering that question. I know the places but i never bought from them. Skandix seems to be the most well regarded or at least well known. Also the most expensive.

Tip: using skandix website, inputting the model of the car you end up buying, is a good fast way to find the OEM number of the part you are looking for.

Another useful UK place is : https://www.partsforvolvosonline.com/

Quality of the components is usually indicated on site, either OE or sometimes they list things from "Professional Parts Sweden". Those can be a bit variable, either very good or something else!

Also stateside you have the likes of IPD, FCP and Rock Auto, wherever you buy from make sure that the paart you need isn't specific to the drive side (things like steering racks, heater matrices, brake master cylinders etc) unless it specifically states for RHD cars. Also the USA didn't get the 940 after 1995, most parts are still used just don't expect the listing to confirm it will fit or not.
