Just to let everyone reading this thread know...
I got a ridiculous quote initially from Volvo Insurance (Royal Sun Alliance). They wanted 510 quid for a year fully comp, 9 years no claims etc etc. I rang them up and got them down to 480, and although their cover is five star and exceptionally good, decided this was still too much. After a couple of weeks looking at insurance companies who would cover the Polestar mod, I rang Volvo Insurance back again, thinking they may be the best bet. I asked for 60 pounds off, and they gave me 100 off! I got a price of 380 pounds, really good cover, car covered at full list price AND... They confirmed that as the Polestar is a Volvo official product they would charge me nothing extra if I added it to the car, but I would just need to ring them to tell them. I though that was a result. So the point is - persist, be prepared to walk away, or if you don't get the deal you want, ring back another day and speak with another salesperson! |

Quote:
- In your case, unbeatable price ( why give you 100 quid off when you asked £60 for them to get the deal?) - they know you are locked as no one wants to insure xc90 with upgraded engine - they will milk you in subsequent years please update the forum at renewal time. It will be interesting |

Cheap intro deals have always been the case.
My existing insurer wanted £1400 for my new R-Design - I told them to do one and then went with LV for less than £500. Who cares if it goes up next year, I'll switch again! I do the same with my home insurance, Credit card, Utilities, and landlord insurance - power to the people |

Did the car make the noise before your Polestar upgrade, mine makes the noise which the dealer says is normal without the upgrade?

Hi all
I've been a Admiral customer for the last 10 years. Both cars are insured with Admiral. I paid £1170 full comp for both cars. An XC90 - £630 & Honda Civic sport - £540. We both have in excess of 24 yrs NCB between us The misses car has non manufacturer tinted windows. This only cost an extra £14 per year The recently purchased XC90 has non Manufacturer tinted windows. This only coast an extra £14. Had side steps fitted to XC90 and told Admiral - no charge I am also thinking of fitting a tunning device (CRTD-2). Admiral have said if power goes up 1-11% extra £49 per anum. 11-20% £89 Basically Admiral seem to be very flexible and reasonable with regards to manufacturer and aftermarket modifications. many other insurers do not want to provide cover like Direct Line. It's there loss. My view is if you can't get the Mod insured then don't do it. Best to be safe than sorry. |

I ordered a new XC60 and like all Volvo's now it does not come with the ECU program that will be used for road use. It is locked down to 30 mph. Volvo program the car when the dealer hooks it up the computer in Sweden. In my case this was the Polestar version.
When I insured my new car all my insurance company were interested in was the value not the detailed specification.
