Smile not for my car

i have thought of a few names for cars that have pulled out in front of me but as volvorocks said in his post (many many names all of which are to rude to print!).

The blue 240 is Ulrika, a name chosen when we were still taking the mickey and wanted a quintessentially Swedish name, but has stuck ever since. The S60 is Björn (Bear in Swedish) because he's black and howls like one above 3000rpm. And the beige 240 we nick-named Måf, because of the last 3 digits of the number plate. It may be sad to name your cars, but it does make it easier to describe them to the uninitiated when you own more than one Volvo.

For the First time (i think) ever, i found my self naming the engine!

Out of the blue someone asked me "What engine is that, the 5 pot"

I said yeah, "Jackson 5"

He said "What's that?"

I replied "Just the normal 5 cylinder, but the harmonys are awsome"

and it's just kinda stuck

I've never named my cars, but my friend used to have a fiat uno named 'skip' - so called because it was a rusty, dented yellow steel box that was usually full of rubbish, and often seen being hauled away on the back of a truck.

Default 240 names

"Sylvia" - the silver 240 GLT, just because Joyce and her husband, the lovely couple who had owned it from new, called it that before I bought it.

It's a respect thing. I view myself as a careful custodian of their car.

Kind regards
Lucien

My first Volvo - an ice-blue 740 - was named 'Garbo' - Swedish, beautiful, and getting on a bit!

Since then amongst others we've had Jessie (a 240), Gullliver (a 940), Toby (a 240 Torslanda with the reg JUG), and presently Bess (an S70), and Lovejoy (my current V70).

Sad isn't it!
