Take the intake hose off the throttle and press the flap closed with a thumb against spring pressure , any tendancy at all to stick shut , then fit a new throttle , But if you are having these starting problems . i'd change it anyway for £60 ..

I have already explained that if you have this symptom then change the throttle , and also explained how to test it for sticking . Its not expensive , I'm surprised you havent just bought the throttle and fitted it long ago ... The dealer should chase the bulletin up . I believe the bulletin says much less than i have said about the situation , It just indicates that the throttle is likely to be the cause of your symptoms . Good luck , if you want a job doing properly do it yourself ... available from your dealer + VAT + about a 3% increase since i first said they were about £60 ..

Mine's only done this once since a proper clean up with some teflon spray - I'll get round to replacing it some time!
What is interesting is that the fuel conssumption has improved by 2-3mpg since cleaning out that small part of the inlet tract......must have been some major disurption to the gas flow, and the pickup has also improved considerably. |

The new twin throttle body never sticks , probably because it is much more rigid ..

to the CLAN !!!
quick up date ..now been 2 weeks since fitting the new throttle body the car has started every time ....... ive noticed improvement in the throttle response and will hopefully be better on fuel !!!! youd never think such a small sticking flap would make your life a MISSERY..... the local garage cleaned it out but then i noticed it got worse ....so i just replaced it . will keep you up to date in the next month just to see how things gose .. and again a BIG thanks to the CLAN |

oh well done , glad all is well , it is very difficult to prove this is causing the problem but I've never had one have the problem come back after fitting a new throttle . The last word of my signature says it all ...
