VR - I agree. I was not going to bother even looking at the XC60 but a couple of people mentioned it would be ideal for my needs and so in the end I thought stuff it. As it happens I am paying only £10 a month more lease wise than my previous V60 1.6D which considering the difference between the two cars is laughable. I am taking a hit on the tax but knowing that next time around I may not be able to get such a nice car I had a word with SWMBO and she accepted the pitiful look in my eyes. Next time I may be in a more sensible Octavia.

I am sure Volvo could shift many more if they reduced the list price to a real figure as many companies band cars according to list price, yes even now.

Harvey is correct, my company base car scheme on list price.

My biggest gripe however is company car tax, which is also based on list price. I'm therefore being taxed on money that has never changed hands!

Only £10 more, yup that is an offer you couldn't refuse. No brainer really. You never know come next time, you may be able to stay in the same class of car again with another good deal?

What I find odd, is that Volvo themselves are giving huge discounts off list (I mean nearly £10k of an S60, without asking and before further bartering) unlike other companies where the largish discount is only possible via places like DTD. Maybe Volvo were hoping people would simply pay list, or near as dammit list - then found they wouldn't so had to get sales somehow?

Yes I agree. Suppose that where the business edition comes in,and is possibly the car that shows where the list pricing should really be across the range, depending on the spec. Best deal is only around £1k off.

Problem is any tax system has to be based on something easy to monitor and check, and list price is that thing in this case.

Your car won't be emitting the average CO2 figures either in real life but you are being taxed via that as well (and VED of course)

There are always winners and losers in any system sadly

No, a legitimate question...

It's a three page thread and your bump added nothing. You could at least have written a few sentences to get the discussion going again.

I really see no need to bump a thread of this nature - it's not like you've a technical query you need solved!

People bump all types of threads for various reasons. I was just interested in further comments on the car from people that may not have seen it Nowt wrong with that. If people think the thread has run its course, then fair enough, no need for them to add to it, and no need for people to make abrasive comments simply because someone hoped a thread would continue.

Fair comment if those are your thoughts, simply just don't add to it.
