I have the same radio issue in my 2005 V70

And i'd appreciate a set on instructions/guidance on self repair - after new tyres etc it's too much out of budget right now for a professional repair.

Another question - I have a working HU 850 from my old 2002 V70 - I can see that it differs from my 2005 model re: what appears to be a separate or integrated dash cup holder (separate 2002 and integrated 2005)

Would the 2002 HU850 fit as a replacement into my 2005 model year (with any necessary 'adjustments''!!)

Thanks

Kevin

Still struggling with my audio system - my HU-850 radio was not working on AM or FM. Appears to search for stations but does not find any, like the aerial was not working. CD player works OK so I guess that indicates the output stages and under-seat amp are all OK.
So I bought a used HU-650 which is similar to the 850 but without the 6 CD changer, just a single CD player. Initially all worked OK including FM, but now the AM & FM are not working - again the CD player works normally.
This points to no radio signal, so I replaced the aerial amp in the boot with a used one - still does not work.
Any ideas ?

Broken connection between the antennae and the plug, or a short circuit in the aerial lead?

Try doing some continuity and resistance checks. To test the head unit try plugging an ordinary car aerial or the exposed end of a bit of insulated wire into the aerial input socket of the radio and running the other end to outside the car; you should pick up some of the stronger transmissions if the radio part is still in working order.
