I think www.d5t5.com VDASH will let you modify your vehicle to allow video to be display video while moving , which of course is not recommended.

Thanks - tempting but yes Illegal... I've had a DVD in and everytime I come to a stop "The Italian Job" starts playing - I feel guilty even stopped so rapidly put the menu over it!

I've downloaded P3Tool this morning - got access.
VDASH seems expensive per shot and is geared towards Professionals I think...

Downloaded P3Tool today - this does it and has a one off fee I think..
I've just had a new Battery fitted today - the AGM one was 10 years old and original and was giving "Low Voltage" messages.

I've got VIDA and used it to reset the Battery Counter - so just going to give the Car time for the Battery to charge and get to 100% before any more messing.

Still waiting on the DAB unit to arrive... but believe P3Tool will easily switch off MOST ITP to OFF... from what I read...

P3 Tool from John will work. Just keep in mind if you change car config and you will have ever to use vida online it may blacklist vin and there will be no more updates or reloads. Keep original config in safe place

Thanks - good tips... not used it yet but Battery now 100% so will give it a go soon - first thing is to Scan for the PIN but from what you say - Backup first!

My £16 DAB unit wasn't found by the seller!
So had to find another - this time £30.... fingers crossed.

So - a couple of upates:

1. The DAB Unit - part number 31409953 AC turned up from eBay today (£30) and includes cut off connectors and mounting plate. (pic attached)

2. I've been in communication with Cartronics, who advertise "Add DAB to any Car" "Original navigation, dab & bluetooth systems for VOLVO

They say it can't be done, can't be upgraded as my VIN number does not offer or have the capability of any Software DAB upgrade.. which if true means my Car cannot be upgraded... ?

Can anyone out there in Volvo land confirm this as was reading a post from a Chap in Norway who had done this... ??

since you will change config with P3 and remove Itp it will work. Check with dealer. Soft for dab is about 25 and itp Remove 20.

Cartronics say they can't download any Software for my VIN
Volvo Stockport say £950 for the upgrade but wouldn't break down the components...

When I gave them Part number 31408649 (which I believe to be the Software component from the Norwegian chap who's done this in a V70) they said that was a part number and it was indeed £23.

I'm guessing they won't install the Software only. Any ideas?
Does D5T5 allow the DAB software download? I'll check

It's pretty straightforward. Install the hardware as per accessories manual, check with vida if all the components of the infotainment are visible, then go to dealer and install 2 software's in this order: 1 remove ITP, install Dab. Or play with p3. Rember that vida is not listing all softwares, sometimes you have to enter the nr manually. The soft nr should be at the bottom of instalation manual. Why go to the 3rd party of you can do it? You said you will use P3 tool, so what's the problem?dealer will install software without problem if you do the install, if not find another one that will or independent with vida online.vddash won't download any software, actual activation of some components is just by switching bytes on or off, it's just called download software.

Need to get Wiring Harness next... not 100% on part number but will track down... I'm also unsure if there is more than 1 box - I've got the DAB unit but is there another box in the rear pillar some seem to refer too?

I'm also not 100% if the Aerial Shark Fin I have for DVB will work for DAB?
Still a couple of mysteries for me... Thanks for the encouragement though...
