Don't think many forces use them now.

Well, car collected.

Cosmetically the outside is very good from a distance although close up there are lots of tiny stop chips that potentially have tiny rust bits on them but nothing to worry about.

Good:
Started first time
cambelt @ 145k
Seats 'ok' - certainly better than the pictures
All tyres legal (rears are eagle F1's!)
has a dog guard which I can flog
drives well (as in brakes and suspension)

Bad:
lots of engine lights - engine light, handbrake light etc
turbo does not seem happy - 'bogs down' when you accelerate. More like 100bhp than 250bhp
no boot floor (just some wood)
mileage is 158, not the 128k advertised.

In retrospect I'm wondering if I should have walked away!!

Its gone straight to my local mechanic with the instructions 'get it to pass its MOT' - I'm hoping its not too much £££.

Will keep you all updated and ask more advice. Will also get some piccies of brakes and suspension to see if they are standard.

Just had a look at autotrader/ebay - it is cheap - great that it does not need cambelt and tyres as that could have been £700ish straight away!

Will see what the repair quote is and then possibly will look for:

Boot floor
interior trim

Might be in limp mode if it won't rev. A good clean up under the bonnet won't do any harm, air charger pipes etc. Change the fuel filter too. Hope is not gonna be a money pit for you to put right. That's a 160 mph car, it should go like buggery.

Good luck with it. Would be good to see it sorted. There is nothing wrong with buying ex Police, the problem is the other owners it's had who probably bought it cheap and tried to run it on a shoestring. Hopefully the problems are just general lack of maintenance.

The car was bought from the police by the previous owner - he's only done a couple of k on it before parking it up so hopefully not too many problems with 'shoestring' maint.

To DieselDoNicely - I cannot reply until I have 30 posts - bear with me!

I will be selling the dog guard - would rather have a boot floor and boot cover!

I have never bought a car from fleabay so correct me if I'm wrong, but if the mileage is incorrect (even if the 2 was by mistake instead of the 5) don't you have certain rights to renegotiate the price or anything like that?
