First assessment of the 244 (she's already got a name Viv the Volvo) just to bring it to the next level from 'rough around the edges' is ....
- new doors
- redo the poor sill repairs / new sills?
- spare wheel wells/lower rear quarters sorting (rear lights panel is a goodun)
- decent wheels - just got steel on at the mo (if you know of anyone selling any alloys let me know)
- respray ... its a goldie yellow/mustardy colour (anyone point me in the direction of a colour chart)
- interior is good but drivers seat foam seems very thin (can feel the heating element)

Can someone educate me on the front grill being rare?

Cheers
Rob
Very glad to hear that it will be saved and looked after properly!

Does Antz, or anybody else, require any more old-DL temptation?

Thanks for the info guys.

What - I've bought a car with a rare grill and a solid rear panel - fluke - just the bits in between need sorting

I'll check out the colour code on the vin plate and see how close it is to the guess of "145 - Light Wheat"

Where is the best place to buy pattern panels from as I will defo need spare wheel wells (they are covered in underseal inside which is a sure sign they are goosed), and sections to the rear of the sills

Simon at Brookhouse Volvo will have the panels you need.

I expect it will need rear wheelarch repair sections as well,

John

Default Paint code

It's not in the VIN. Open the bonnet and find the info plate (which has the VIN stamped into it), on mine it's rivetted to the driver's side wheel arch. On the right hand side of that plate are some small boxes with numbers, the third down on mine is "601-2" which means classic/signal red.
