I hope so too...in a previous life BS (before Scotland) I worked in a company that used to include Volvo's on the company car scheme. The Ph.2 cars were the final straw for the lease company, and they refused to allow further Volvos to be specified after that. My colleague had a T5, which fell apart on him (squeaks, rattles, loose interior panels, finally the driveshaft on the O/S....). It was so bad, he went over to Discovery Landrovers, which were an improvement!!!

Since I have got my Ph.1 2.5 10v, I've been totally converted to the Volvo fold. Nothing like those memories of past. I'm sort of hoping to add a Ph.2 to the fleet in a couple of year's time, just in case this one needs a rest.... I'm running out of options for other makes at the moment, they just don't "cut it" on the roads around the Highlands!

I've owned two ph2's A T5 and a 20v both suffered electronic gremlins and both a variety of rattles that I could never find maybe it was just my bad luck but I'd never own one again, for me build quality went down hill after the 800 series
I can't speak for the much newer models as I've never owned one.

850s are very simple and tough, definately less trouble, I had 3 early s60rs and yes they need more items replaced / upgraded but facelifts 06 cars have tougher angle gears etc. I had to shim mine, but it's been fine since, but I have p1s and p2s so best of both worlds.

P80 is the chassis name/code for this whole section.
People often incorrectly call them 'P1' when infact these are P1 Volvos.
