MY 1989 2.0i delivers 25mpg on normal premium unleaded and 30mpg on higher quality fuels, therefore, well worth the additional few pence per litre. I must add that to achieve those quite satisfactory figures I have to drive her as if there is a raw egg sitting between my foot and the pedal!

depends on compression, 'E' are designed for 98, and run all the better on it, whereas the 'F' engines run fine on 95 and you don't really notice any difference.

I've never yet broken 30mpg with my B200F, the problem with the 2 litre engines is you have to wind them out all the way up the rev range to actually go anywhere!

These engines do not return good mpg on lpg - I reckon averages out about 20mpg but at about half the cost of petrol so 38mpg equivalent already quoted seems realistic.

Late response but I got around 18mpg in my 264 if I was very carefull up to the dizzy hights of 32.4 after the ECU conversion. I'll let you know about the 265 in a bit.

On my 1989 2.3l 240 GLT automatic estate I seem to get 100 miles to 20 euros worth of unleaded 95. Don't know what this works out MPG wise but I find it reasonable. This is mostly rural trips with a bit of small town driving. Don't know if this is good or not!

I averaged about 32 mpg with my B200F, 35 on a long run.

I'm not sure what my B230F does on petrol, as I mostly run on LPG at 27 mpg, so probably about the same on petrol as the B200F.
