Righto, I have my 'thick head' on today.

Just been having a look at what is involved here. Got my instrument cluster 'free' and moved it forwards onto the column.

The LEDs go behind the clear perspex cover right? So how do I get the perspex cover off please?

Sure its obvious.... but just seeing it........yet.

Oh double LOL, just not getting this at all..... decided to have a look at the centre console bit instead, got it out no probs can see where to wire in to a bulb holder, can't for the life of me work out where or how to place the LED strip.

Have a look at the back of your instrument cluster, you should be able to see some screws, these hold the cluster together.
Undo the screws, open the cluster to expose the internals, look for a route at the BACK of the dials through which you can thread your led's, fit the led strip and push the feed wires through one of the bulb holders.
Connect the power plug back up to the cluster and turn the ignition on, check to see if the led strip works by touching the feed wires to the pcb where your bulb would normaly fit.
If the led does NOT work swap the feed wires round (led's have to connected to live and earth the correct way around)
Once you have the polarity correct you can either solder the feed wires or do as i did and trap the wires using one of the original bulbs.

Okay, finally got around to starting my 'attempt' at this. If you've followed other posts, you'll know that Tank put other things to the fore lol.

So I went for the centre console lights today:

I tried fitting the lights here:

Then soldered the lights and tested my work.

............ and they do dim with the 'fader' knob.

Then just tried them in semi-dark, dodgy pic alert, but you get the idea:

So just the speedo console to 'crack' then........

.....................and

The soldering points on the LEDs I bought were marked +ve & -ve so that made life easier. Getting the solder to work was for me a pita. Once the cut was made you are not left with much 'metal' to work on............ maybe just me being a novice solderer!
I drilled a little hole in the side of the 'box' to pass the wires & soldered them into the clocks wiring, which I think was a suggestion in an earlier post. & yes they do dim too
