No doubt said with tongue in cheek

Seriously though, do look at breakdown truck and recovery transporters on motorways. I haven't seen an XC90 on one yet, but I've seen lots of newish Range Rovers and Discos.

Could be on a delivery/distribution transporter .... lots of those on the motorways, not just recovery wagons!

I don't live in Rye you know, I'm six miles outside, but do go in quite a lot, I often have breakfast at Rye Harbour.

There is a Jempsons on the edge of Rye, but that's it. None of the main ones there. More likely to see Bentley's, Range Rovers etc. parked on the street.Audi TT's are popular because the streets are so narrow and they are easier to park. Harley Davidsons by dozen of course. I have seen a couple of Volvo Amazon's and a P1800 though.

I have taken the XC60 into the Mermaid's car park. Was really hard to get in though as the lock isn't that great and Mermaid Street is so narrow. It's where the BBC filmed Mapp and Lucia the year before last.

Posting some photos I notice that an XC90 has managed to find it's way into one.

I drive east on the m180 to s****horpe for work. I drive west home in the evenings. In the morning i see hondas, toyotas, JLR products and occasionally Nissans all heading for export from Immingham. In the evenings on the way home I see Volvos, VAG stuff, PSA stuff and BMWs heading from the docks to the UK dealers. I like to see this as it is a real experience of our balance of trade......

Please note it was not me, but this website, which inserted the stars in the name of the town i work in. I think it finds letters 2, 3, 4 and 5 offensive, which I do when they are on their own but it is a bit of a blow for a town which cannot even have it's name written on the internet!

And I think it was Barry Cryer, on BBC R4's "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue", who offered, as a new up-to-date definition of the word 'countryside' - "The murder of Piers Morgan".
Works best on radio

LOL I did wonder. To be honest I had not even thought about the rude word in your work town until this website drew attention to it with a load of asterisks!

Haha.

The internet police have well and truly gone bonkers.
Tinnie Tempah won't have his song played on the radio until after the watershed at this rate.

Well, there's now one extra XC90 on the roads as of today - took delivery this morning.

Being very honest, I'm kind of 'ho-hum' now that I've got it. I think I'd allowed my own expectations to rise too much between ordering and now. Yes, it's a nice car. It's probably a very nice car. I think I'd just been waiting for a really, really, really nice car.

As delivered to my workplace by a lease company (no choice of source, unfortunately) I found that the first warning message on switching on the ignition was "Your Volvo On Call subscription is expired. Please contact your dealer to activate it." Nobody I've contacted so far has explain satisfactorily what this means and why it isn't activated in a brand new XC90.

Second warning was "Low battery charge level". Oh, come on! It's bloody January, and I'll have lights, aircon, heated seats and everything on and some tw*t delivers a car with a dodgy battery.

Of course, none of this is obvious while the vehicle is taken from the transporter with engine already running. It's only on ignition switch-on that you see these prompts.

I don't know that I can lay either of these issues at Volvo's door. I'm honestly not sure yet who has responsibility. Oh, maybe the battery will resolve itself given a decent run, but still, it's not what I expect or have ever encountered with a brand new car before.

So, 'ho-hum' is the starting point, which for a £50K vehicle is pretty p*ss-poor. I really wanted to be posting a message full of "Wow, fantastic, lovely, look at me, look what I've got..." etc. Let's hope our long-term relationship improves.
