The handbook for the 2003 says that (with STC) you can turn the "Spin Control" off BUT not the "Traction Control".

The spin control cuts power when you both wheels spin and can be disabled so you can pull away on low traction surfaces.

The traction control uses the brakes to try and balance power delivery between both wheels - a sort of electronic limited slip diff.

I saw this recently on a re-run, something about pressing the button 6 times; I think the Stig concluded that although the system is supposed to be off it was still interfering

Cool DTSC VS STC... is this correct...

Having changed from my S60 DSTC to V70 STC I wonder what the differences are in a any situation that needs!

First Traction control: This is the only part you can turn off. It stops (mostly) your wheels spinning under power. Don't see why you should turn it off unless you like buying new tyres. You shouldn't notice any difference in steering etc. with it off however.

Secondly Dynamic Stability: This is always on and can brake individual wheels to negate oversteering/understeering and stuff. Helps to keep you on the road if you do something silly.

Default STC button

On a second hand car on sale, there is the "slippery car" symbol at start-up of the car.

There is only a STC button, does this mean that this car has only STC and not DSTC?

It is a 2003 S60 car.

I guess that when the car has DSTC, the button is called STC/DSTC OFF, and when you have only STC , then there is only a button called STC off.

WIth te R-version you have button STC and button DSTC.

WHy did Volvo not make DSTC standard 10 years ago? ALmost all the equipments are in place to include DSTC if they install STC.
