A few on here have had it done by the dealer.
It's basically a software update.

Something is not right here.

Like you said there are plenty of people who have done the conversion (including me) and not had a problem with the warning message you are seeing.

I did initially get the warning but it went off straight away.

It's either a dodgy kit or it's not been wired correctly?

no idea about the wiring as I didn't do it but looking at the kit i dont see how it can possibly be wired incorrectly. the plugs only fit in one place and surely if it was wired incorrectly the lights themselves wouldn't work.

I might strip it out at the weekend and set it back up from scratch again.

Do they still work with the DRLS active aslong as its wired from the battery?

You can get the negative and positive connection mixed up where the bulb connectors to the new ballast.

Mine has DRL's active.

Would only apply to cars type approved after a certain date so doesn't apply to any c30 s40 or v50.

quick update. problem solved.

For whatever reason the wiper protection harness HIDS4U have sent me is causing the bulb warning. I completely removed the harness this morning and fired the kit up briefly using the stock wiring and the warning was gone.
The harness is wired up correctly, battery positive and negative to oval connectors on both ballasts so I have no idea why its kicking the warning up.

Im leaving the relay harness in with the bulb warning failure until I can get my motor protected properly.

So brings me to the question now...is it better to ground my wiper motor through a DIY cable or does getting the DRLs deactivated mean I can just use the stock wiring without danger of the wiper motor frying?

Mill Volvo, my local franchise dealer just quoted me £53.89 to remove the DRLs.

I would leave the wiper motor ground alone & find a better ground position on the chassis somewhere for the HID's.
This would separate the paths of both components (wiper motor & ballasts).

Connected straight to body instead of car loom
