like some one said its far from impossible and it will cost alot and what you will gain isn't much as on of the big draw backs to moving the engine back(the btcc car had it) is when you move the engine back and down you do get better weight ditribution which does help handling throuhg high speed corners but you sacrifice alot of traction of the line as there isn't the weight over the wheels any more plus it also cause's more strain on the drive shafts as they wont be straight and you might find you will eat the to be honest i would leave it where it is and maybe look at ducting air from the front around the engine to the turbo to allow it to stay abit cooler

All of the projects I have read on 850’s I have never seen the engine moved backed and lowered even with 500bhp plus. Plenty of projects with cosmetic changes and mild to extreme levels of tuning also different types of suspension chassis mods, some projects I have read have had a shed load of weight stripped out of them. So these guys are very serious about the projects they are undertaking and getting the best power out of the car, I am really looking into what would be involved re balance so the car can handle a whole lot better with the power being put on the road.

At the moment my main project is an auto 855 T5 it is only mildly modified this is my first project my second project will be my 855 R manual after that I may consider something a bit more extreme, like yourself at the moment I want a bit of luxury with a car that is a bag of fun and comfortable to drive.

Just to throw a random idea in:

why not put some ballast weight in the back of the car? I know it defeats the object of saving weight but could allow for a better balanced car and extra power can always be had via remap etc to compensate for the extra weight.

You could turn the engine and box around and the best way might be to have another crank and cams made so that the engine turns the other way then you will have 5 forward gears. Or you could leave the engine alone and have the gearbox redone so the diff was on the front then the engine and box would be about 2 feet further back and all of it would be behind the front wheels. Either way would be a massive amount of work though. For a fraction of the work involved you could save a lot of weight up front by replacing many steel parts (hubs, struts, bottom arms, drive shafts and subframe) for alloy ones instead.

Forget moving the engine at the front just add an extra one at the rear to balance it out.... twin T5 power admitidly still not great for handling but would make it a fun car!

if you want to cool the intake charge further then consider water/methenol injection

Default relocating engine

I would say you could but you'd have to alter the firewall considerably, Ive seen transverse engine converted to rear wheel drive by the same conversion.

I dont know if you would then have to take it for a SVA test as you would be altering it considerably. Thinking about it if you lowered the exhaust manifold you could the push the engine back further [getting off topic and not what you want to do]
