Thanks. Does that apply to the 6 speed auto as well?

Is the Dmf a good or bad thing to have by the way? I haven't noticed any complaints about it on this forum.

Seems about right.

Would have liked Xenons - are they that much better than standard lights? Seemed to be interwebs confusion as to whether the SE Lux spec came with them included.

Also do they all have the reversing camera included?

Cheers

On the tax bands. The reason I'm not sure about them is because for a short period the XC90 auto was in the highest bracket. Only a small no of cars are affected and I can't remember the dates, but you might want to consider this when purchasing.

DMF's are only on the manuals and they do disintegrate over time. They are not needed on the auto as the torque converter 'smooths' out the engine....at the cost of some mpg

Definitely check that it has a full service history. Doesn't have to be Volvo, there are some good independents out there.

Check for wear on tyres. Low tread will mean you'll be soon paying out for tyres, uneven wear maybe just a pressure/alignment issue but could indicate worn components.

Check the life of brake discs and pads. Again, another cost you ideally don't want to be lumbered with.

Check all electrics, ie, stereo, windows, switches.

Make sure it has two keys. A replacement from Volvo is around £250.

On the test drive, check aircon, steering alignment (is it pulling in any direction) does it pull up in a straight line, does the parking brake work?

A lot of these issues could be easily fixed, but it will cost, so good to haggle. I'm sure there are more bits to check that other members can come up with.

Good luck.

No ones posted on here about them disintegrating that I've ever seen in the last 5 years. How long does it take? Also what causes it? A flywheel sounds like it should just be a lump of metal. I'm guessing it's not that simple though.

I have a v70 d5 as well and it's not uncommon ( keeping in perspective that everything on the forum is over-represented).

I meant on the XC90 forum, although why the XC90 would be different to the V70 with the same engine I don't know. Maybe the way the XC90 owners drive is different. I see that riding the clutch seems to be blamed for the problem as I see it is the adhesive that holds the two metal masses together that fails due to overheating. http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/dual-mass-flywheels/
