I checked the software update screen at 8am yesterday and it said “Software Up To Date 2.3”.
An hour later, a message came up to say “New Software Available 2.5” - will take 1.5 hours to install with the engine off and car locked.
I set it to run at 12 noon yesterday and had a message on my iPhone at 1.30pm to say software update had run successfully.
When I went out to the car this morning, the centre screen loaded up and confirmed that the software had installed successfully.

Shouldn’t the Volvo Cars app send notification to your phone, there is an update available? Or do I have to check it regularly on the centre screen in the car?

I did get a notification on my app to say that there was an update available, must admit, I didn’t notice it until later as I had already seen it on the centre screen in the car!

Thanks for the confirmation. I keep checking my app, but no update for me. I haven’t checked the car for 2 weeks though. Last tine it was still 2.3.1 . :/

I checked in the car yesterday morning and nothing, then yesterday afternoon got a notification that it was available. Parked the car up for the night, hit install, locked it and plugged it in and got another notification 45 mins later to say it was complete. Pretty slick and seamless experience for me.

Mine told me via the app that 2.5 was ready. Went to car, clicked on install, lets see what happens.

Pity you dont seem to be able to initiate install from the app?? Or would it have just installed it next time i used the car? I have Auto Updates ticked.

No you have to initiate the install as the car can be off line/ unavailable for up to 90 minutes.

Auto update, means it will download and then prompt you to install, if not ticked it will not look for the update.

Ok makes sense, but as the car is sat idle, plugged in on the drive it would be nice to have the option to click install on the app rather than having to go outside in this brass monkey weather just to click 'Install'??

How do the OTA updates work on the Sensus OS (non Android) ? I’m not sure that I can even check SW version through Sensus? On the newer Volvos there’s more detail changelog info than my version below.

They don’t, OTA is only available on AAOS models. Yours gets done at service time.
