It's difficult to describe to be honest, there's a slight increase in noise under the bonnet which I can hear whilst I'm driving, it sounds like something is being pumped through the system. It only happens occasionally, the intervals being what I'd expect for the DPF regeneration to happen. It's always done it since I've had the car, and it seems to last for the same amount of time. The car has never indicated anything is wrong so I'm pretty sure it is the regeneration process happening. It also never happens when the car is cold, on my previous commute it used to happen at pretty much the same stage of my journey, when the car has been driven for a good 30 minutes. My car has been properly serviced and maintained by an excellent specialist and drives like new (116K on it) so I'm sure that's what it is, I have no reason to suspect anything else.

I find the range and instantaneous MPG drop significantly when my car is doing it.

A full regeneration sequence lasts roughly 30 km.
