Temp gauge reads much the same as my Manual 854 , give it 5 mins or so and its at half way and thats where it stays all day long.

That sounds slow to me, from memory both my 850's used to shoot up to temperature in a couple of minutes max and then stay rock solid. Could be remembering wrong though - what do others reckon?

I've had a few 7 and 9 series, these did shoot up really quick, with lots of warm air in the winter. My 850 and V70 all crept up - 5 minutes sounds about right

Well both my 850`s take about the same time to reach half way , lets say 4-5mins and both will stay at the half way mark all day long, and Ive had my 854 for well over a year now and its always been the same

Could be an auto gearbox issue seeing as they lock up in higher gears. Perhaps when not locked up slip in the viscous coupling is more than it should be, hence the rubbish MPG aorund town and perfectly acceptable MPG at spped on motorways. Don't know how I would check that though

But it changes gear as smooth as silk hot or cold and pulls like a train, and the oil is a red in color

Im thinking its a OBC fault? as after using it today the OBC now reads 11.1 MPG and the gauge hasn`t moved ?

both cars run perfect.

Whats going on here? surly Autos aren`t that much heaver on juice than Manuals or are they?

A torque converter issue wouldn't manifest with a gear change issue especially if the fault is in the torque converter (I said viscous coupling earlier for some reason) ==> too much slip equals worse efficiency. Thinking about it, with more slip you'd need more revs to achieve a given speed in a given gear. Perhaps if you posted revs somebody with "the same" car on the forum could post theirs for comparison

No the box is not slipping

I think its a OBC issue, as ive been all over the place with it today on a £5 , done about 30miles i would guess so it cant be doing what the OBC telling me it is, i think its telling me porkies
