Exactly what I do.
I have also discovered that if you select the play list using the phone before you set off it will play over Blu-Tooth. As it just streams whats playing. This is necessary if I need to charge the phone and listen to music. The iPod Classic stays in the cubby. I've perfected the art of blindly swapping leads on the move with one hand. Not reccomended, but easy with geartronic.

iPod Menu Freezes
Hi all. I use a Classic 130GB iPod and I experience an issue when trying to select tracks, artists etc by scorolling (using my built in steering wheel selection buttons) though the list displayed on the screen. Effectively, the system allows me to scroll through only a few tracks, artists or albums before it freezes up. It then takes a mniute or so to unfreeze and let me continue to scroll through another few list entries before freezing again. Anyone else experiencing this? Any known solutions? Cheers |

1. How full is your iPod classis? I have the 80GB version which I had to reduce my tunes down to approx 50Gb as I was also finding the same scrolling issue. Now I have zero issues. I just keep the stuff I do not really want to listen to out of any playlists that I sync to my incar iPod. 2. What file type are you storing your tunes in - if you are using an advanced file type i.e flac then you will experence slow scrolling on large libraries. I use either the stnd apple format or 256 mp3's. 3. Another way to search large libaries isto to use the alpha search on the Senus keypad to go straight to the section of your collection which will cut out much of the scrolling - i.e. say you want a "New Order" track, press the applicable "N" button until "N" appears & then scroll within the "N"'s.

iPod and iPhone work okay
I've used an old iPod touch connected by USB, and an iPhone by Bluetooth and not had the same problems. Works fine. The user interface did take some getting used to though.

Hi all
I am one who stated on the other thread that I had updated to iOS5 with no problems but actually I am in the same boat as everyone on here ie 2 x iPhone 4's which work fine phone-wise but cut out with music (when connected by USB) after 2 mins or so. It all worked fine with iOS4 but I don't see any fix imminent from Apple. I now use a little used old iPod Touch permanently wired into the USB and living in the armrest for music and let my iPhone stick to being a phone in the car. As an aside, can anyone help with this...... It's my wife's car. If I get in to drive it says "searching for Joanna's iPhone" then when hers is not found it says "searching for previously connected phone" which is all as you wld like except it never finds my phone. I always have to search and select it manually which is slightly tedious. Any ideas? |

This appears to be a known problem with the iphone and not a Volvo problem.
Googling "iphone music usb" leads to many topics on the subject, such as this one:- https://discussions.apple.com/thread...readID=2501987 Seems to be a priority problem:- I think the problem is that the iPhone sends audio out to whatever has connected last, and BlueTooth audio takes ~15 seconds to connect. You plug in the USB, it works fine... then the BlueTooth connects to the JVC and switches to BlueTooth audio -- and the stereo doesn't automagically switch, so you get no sound. There are some ways to get around this: 1) Unplug and re-plug the USB connector after it cuts out. Annoying - you have to do it every time. 2) Wait until after BT has connected, then plug in USB. Annoying - you have to do it every time. 3) Pick up iPhone, switch to iPod app, touch little blue BT icon in the lower right, and choose "Dock Connector". Annoying - you have to do it every time. 4) Disable BT Audio on the JVC, via menu BlueTooth/Disconnect Audio. Annoying - you have to do it every time. I wish there was some way to make the iPhone prefer the dock connector - but I can't see one. |

I managed to solve this problem by disabling the A2DP bluetooth profile on the iphone. That's the bluetooth service that sends music over bluetooth.
To do this you need an app on your phone called Bluetooth Services Manager, which allows you to disable the A2DP profile while keeping the Handsfree profile so you can make phonecalls as normal. The app is free, but the (potential) drawback is that you have to have a jailbroken iphone because you can only get Bluetooth Services Manager through the Cydia app store. Now I have a seperate iPod in the car and don't bother with the app anymore but I hope it helps! |

the app to turn off your music streaming through bluetooth is now available in the app store. This will solve the problem of the phone automatically switching over to bluetooth leaving you with no sound.

Well spotted! That app should do the trick by the sounds of it, without the need to jailbreak, for a mere £1.99
