glo plugs
try measuring resistance on the glowplugs to metal they screw into .. should be very low ohms, pretty easy to change also, bosch stuff has a holographic code thingy on them that can can check online as genuine.. its def the temperature that they would be needed.

If money is an issue, the glow plugs are not difficult to change so you might consider ignoring the usual advice to change them all as they may all fail at around the same time and only change the failed ones. The plugs can be tested in situ with an ohm meter to identify the failed units, if there are any.
