We are also incredibly lucky over here, in Scandinavia the prices of old Volvo's is going crazy, I've heard of people paying strong money for complete rot box N/A 700 series and for some reason the diesels go for even more!

I'll send the links on to Dan, being an 18 year old he watches YouTube a lot, and you never know: he may start taking an interest in old Volvos (but I'm not going to slam the Barge!).

:-)
I got Facebook when I was 15 and after three weeks deleted my account as I thought it was a festering pile of puss then and 12 years on my mind isn't changed.

Haha, the first video might change his mind on the barge then.

It is Bobwalkin time now Luke (we go at 06:45 because of the dark morns, but will go back to 06:30 next week). I'll watch the YouTube videos later - Dan may start thinking I'm a cool dad (but I'm still not slamming the Barge!).

And Turbobricks has been and is a very popular forum. Okay mainly US based but certainly shows there’s considerable interest in modifying the 240 especially. The Buchka bros do some crazy quality work especially.

I watched the last one Luke (Bumper to Bumper)... I'm still struggling to see the point :-). I think I'm just too much of an old fogey to understand.

I wasn't going to mention it - but yes it is back to £3,100 - again!

This is my theory: the seller is looking for £3,100 or a little more, that is his/her magic number. He/she has used some shill bidding by mates with proper accounts and a few phantoms (the ones with zero or very low scores) to make it appear popular and get the price up to £3,100 with 3 days of the auction still to go. Now I think he/she sits tight and waits to see if a punter gets sucked in by the bidding frenzy and places a genuine bid above the magic number. If that doesn't happen then he/she can always step in with a last minute bid from one of the phantom accounts (maybe 7***2Feedback score (0)) tell eBay the seller reneged, then start the process again next week (and 7***2Feedback score (0) can retire).

I could be entirely wrong of course, there could well be 15 genuine bidders out there, all vying to own an old Volvo with no MoT and willing to pay top dollar for the privilege.

:-)

I had a quick look this morning. No 1 is the S90 royal with 170k miles. It was on for months at £17,500. 7 months later it’s just under 10k.. I imagine we will see it for some time.

No. 2 is a V70R with an equally silly price tag that’s been around over a year.

I remember someone on here saying the S90 was worth almost the advertised price. I wonder if they will now buy 😂

I think that may have been me that said the S90 Royal was possibly worth what was being asked but that would have been to someone who wanted one.
In other words, i won't be buying it, even if i had the money which at the moment, i don't.
The main raison d'etre of the Volvo i have is because it's an estate, when the time comes to replace it i seriously doubt very much if it will be another Volvo. There are certain things i've discovered about them over the many years of ownership that puts me off anything newer than ~1990 and i would be looking for something ~10 years newer than that.

That said, i may continue nursing my 760GLE V6 along until it hits 40 years old and then claim Historic Tax on it, only another 6 years or so to go now until that point.
Anticipated mileage at that point will be 250k, currently on 232k so not quite to the Moon as yet but only another year (3k miles) until i reach the Moon when it's at its closest point in orbit. Another 2 more years after that until i reach it at its furthest point or 2 years from now until i reach the "average" distance to the Moon (238k) so at 250k miles, not only will it be a survivor but worthy of Historic tax, having already cost an estimated £7200 in VED since new when VED was ~£120/year from memory. The £7200 estimate is arrived at simply by splitting the difference between £120 ish in 1988 and £240 ish now and multiplying that £180 by 40 years. By no means a guaranteed accurate figure but a reasonable guesstimate for a quick calculation!

Curious as to why you'd prefer 7 series to 9?
Quite agree things got flimsier post 2 series (had an s70) but what showstoppers does the 9 series have that the 7 escapes?
