Oil/filter if not done soon. I use genuine Volvo. Cambelt too and tensioner. Axle and gearbox drain/refill.

All what James said but if the gear changes are nice and smooth leave the gearbox alone. Don't forget all 3 front seals when you do the cambelt ( looks like oil is seeping just above the water pump top seal which could be cam cover or cam seal ) Fit a new stat and seal when you do coolant as well

I would say that looks like a very good example and if you managed to squeeze him down a bit on price it's good value as well. Best combo 940 is without doubt B230FK with M90 Box. Also estates are much better that silly saloons

Also your power steering belt is the wrong width. The Gates one on yours is 10mm wide and it should be 11.9mm wide

Best to ditch all the Gates belts and replace with genuine Volvo

Agree with what others have said. Looks a good acquisition.

I’d add to the list fixing the air box. They were available the last time I needed one via Classic Parts in Sweden. Not a bad price either. You just need the lower part with the clips on. I think you also ned a blanking plate for an extra hole in it but that may come with them. I cannot remember.

Also probably worth flushing the brake fluid through with fresh and greasing the slider pins with high temperature silicone grease. I find an impact driver great for undoing rusted caliper bleed screws. Yes, I know it’s only a matter of time before I snap one off, but lucky so far.

That's a very tidy looking car, I hope you enjoy it and get many years of fun from it.

The first thing I would do would be a full service

Oil 10w40 semi synthetic I and a few others on here highly recommend shell helix hx7 you will need a 5l container

Oil filter - genuine Volvo 3517857
Sump plug washer 18818

Air filter - you can get a mann filter from euro car parts for around £5

Fuel filter - genuine Volvo ones says Volvo Meyle on them so just buy a Meyle one and save yourself a tenner

Spark plugs - NGK BPR6ES gapped to 0.7mm and nothing else, this is what Volvo state.

Remove the PCV box and either replace with a new genuine Volvo one or give it a thorough clean with degreaser or petrol, knock all the of the solid carbon deposits out first. Replace the o-ring 949659

Change the oil filler cap seal after the oil change with a genuine Volvo one (around £5) 1275379

If the cambelt is due then you will want to do the three front oil seals and you might as well change the auxiliary belts too. I can provide the part numbers if you need them.

After that a few more important things to look at are below

As James said check the condition of the oil cooler hoses by the oil filter, they may have already started to go soft and squishy 9161383 and 9161384

While the oil filter is off remove the oil cooler itself (I think it was a 27mm nut) and replace the seal between the oil cooler and the filter elbow 3547188

Check the inside of the distributor cap for oil, if oil is there then you will need to replace the two o-rings and the oil seal. There's a special Volvo tool for the oil seal but you don't need it.

Looks like a nice one and for that price you cannot go wrong. Over here you would probably have paid double for such a low mileage one. Prices seem to go up here.

The small red thingy on the picture with the spare heater control panel comes from one of the front seats. It is used to blank off the side airbag mechanical actuator if you take the seat out, to prevent it from exploding when you accidentally drop the seat on its side.

To fixate the top part of the air box you can also use the same clips that hold the glass lens on the head lamps.
