Thanks very much!

It's certainly tricky to make sure to be as critical as possible as well as excited to do a deal and come home with a new car.

I didn't have the luxury of taking a decent sceptic with me, the best I had was all the comments and support from this forum, which I'm very grateful of.

So, ....... I've decided to go for it and buy R67 URH!

As far as I can tell, it's a good one. My knowledge is basic, but I hope my instinct is good.

I've given it a really good test drive and it feels good, all the dash lights and gauges work, I've checked the fluids, the underside looks to be in good shape, the engine bay hasn't been cleaned so it's got some dust and grime in there which is nice to see.

There's no obvious leaks, no rust on the body, there's a few blemishes but nothing scary. Some hoses are new and there's a bill for the recent work undertaken before it's MOT.

I'd be more than happy with this one!

Great news bud!

All you need now is the same luck we all need when buying a car.

Get it up in the air and rustproof as much as possible.

Well done !🥳🥳🥳🥳

Sounds great.

Rust proof and give it a thorough service if not already done.

Cooling system I would replace. Oil cooler hoses, rad, rad hoses. rear of engine heater hoses. Waterpump if not leaking, leave alone. Old Volvo better quality. SKF good replacement.

They are good cars. I have a 1996 940 LPT auto estate as a workhorse. Wouldn't win any shows as cosmetically challenged and was cheap 6 years ago at £250.

I enjoy driving it. Will need an over axle exhaust pipe soon as blowing and sort the leaking sunroof! Fix AC in Summer.

James.

I think that's the right one for yours James, double-check as i've only gone on a basic description but fairly sure that one fits almost all petrols

Looks very nice.

I would change the coolant to some fresh and think of buying a new coolant reservoir.

Change rear heater hoses and oil cooler hoses if no history/ or look old. Heater valve too if original behind engine if turbo. Check rad condition.

Oil/filter if not done soon. I use genuine Volvo. Cambelt too and tensioner. Axle and gearbox drain/refill.

FRF Volvo at Swansea on here offer discount.

Enjoy your 940, looks a good one.

James
