No. The price increases are just a Syon of the times.

Anyhow, I would hazard a guess they could be for export to here, where anything of a certain age (30 years) qualifies for "vintage" tax of 56 euro.
So, a basic model from 92 or earlier would easily sell here for around 7k.
A Wiley dealer/punter could make a tidy profit by flipping it quickly across the sea.

A prime example, reregistered on a ZV vintage plate.

I could make quite a nice business out of that: buy a one owner, low mileage 'barn find' that has been resting under a tree for 15 years for a grand each month, do a bit of recommissioning work and a good MOP, invent a cover story for the missing 15 years and sell it in the RoI for €7,000 (£6,000). I could make perhaps £3,000/month - a nice side-line and get a free holiday :-).

I wonder whether the authorities would get wise to it after a while?

They appear to be dotted around his rather large property as the silver TT has the Ferrari in the background with some other cars in a different part of the house. I assume the dark garage is used to give the illusion of dry stored barn find and to hide the multitude of sins on the body work.

Your attention to detail is better than is mine Luke; I had not noticed that.

You may be right about the 'barn effect' for the 240. I just had a look on eBay and can see it has no other bids than the first couple at around a grand.

:-)

PS. I was curious and so have just had a look at the seller's other lots. The bids don't appear to have changed from a few days ago and all finish at much the same time (Thursday afternoon).

PPS. I notice that none of the lots has reached its reserve yet - I don't know why, but I have a feeling there is some sort of scam going on.

There is also a cover story about the motor car's mileage - which has been at 150,000 and 105,000 according to the MoT history, but the seller claims is really 50-55,000 miles. He cannot corroborate this of course, and cannot really account for the missing 15 years, it is just a story.

The seller is still trying to get nearly 6 grand for the motor car, perhaps he should give it a go in the RoI?

:-)

That is interesting - there is no MoT history for UFC50X - I don't know why.

£7,500 for a 200,000 mile motor car would be madness.

... maybe, but normally the the history stays with the motor car (it did when I changed the plate on the Porsche and my Triumph).

no one in their right mind is going to pay more than 2 grand for a 200,000 mile 740.

:-)
