This. Plus an option to enable pin to keyless start a car. And both of these can be accomplished by a software update.

Just amazes me that they just try to brush it under the carpet with excuses like 20 years ago, where theft was higher because anyone could steal a car, and drunks stole one to get a ride home.

Theft capability should be be marked and graded like crashing, manufacturers would soon Do something about it then.

I'm probably in the minority, but if someone wants to steal my car using the keyless start, I'd rather they took it off the drive, then came in the house looking for the key, so my keys are always left by the front door lols

"...Manufacturers take car security seriously..."
Hahahaha

As I live on a Red route, I can't park anywhere that close to my house - so it's going to have to be a seriously impressive relay.....

Just become aware that the new VW Touareg can be locked via the key, followed by a touch on the keyless locking door handle, which then disables keyless until it is next opened with the key.

Seems like a pretty good solution to me, you get the best of both worlds, keyless when you want it, but the ability to disable when you want to, for example at home where the key is kept close to the car.

Also, this would surely be something that if so inclined, Volvo could actually implement via software and apply to all keyless cars retrospectively.

Just thought it was quite a neat solution.

Its a right faf on to remove key from fob and lock the volvo doors using it, if there were a proper flip out key and keyhole it would work. Like the mk 1 XC90 key.

Sorry, when I said locked via the key, I meant wirelessly using the button on the key, not with the emergency key.
