I bet those 16's give extra cushioning on those potholed roads!
Great pictures by the way.

Hi Kev0607, yes the 16s are a smoother ride and perfect for winter but the 17s are better for cornering once the old girl is wound up on the twisty highland roads

Today I cleaned the Mimas wheels ready for storing until the autumn.
An elderly neighbour gave me a bottle of Greased Lightning Showroom Shine 5 or 6 years ago and it's been sitting on a garage shelf ever since, so today I decided to try it on the inside of the wheels. I am thoroughly impressed with the results, it removed all the winter salt, tar spots and rust marks caused by the discs and they wheels look great again. No I wouldn't use it on the paintwork but for the inside of the wheels it is perfect

On October I posted that I had cured my ABS-0136 Brake Pressure Sensor fault and it's been working fine until last week. The code came back and this time it was reluctant to reset, I eventually managed to clear it but on Tuesday it appeared again and wouldn't turn off so I managed to find someone local who is breaking a car and bought two sensors from him after speaking to Volvo Parts and getting quoted £300 + VAT for each sensor.
My live data showed sensor 1 was 4.56, sensor 2 was -0.91 and my scanner told me sensor 1 was at fault. I unplugged sensor 1 and connected it to the replacement sensor and went back to live data which showed both sensors were reading similar to each other and within the parameters allowed so I decided to swap sensor 1 over today. Before starting I primed the sensor with a few drops of fresh brake fluid, I removed the cross brace, I placed a piece of Cling Film on the reservoir and used an elastic band to hold it tightly in place, a 27mm long socket removed the sensor and the replacement was screwed in and torqued to 25NM. Wire harness attached and live data checked and everything is once again working as it should. Live data reading for good sensors

my car gets the anti skid fault occasionally - it seems to come every couple of week and then go next time the ignition is switched off and on again. I keep meaning to do this as the odd warnings on the dash worry my partner if she's driving on her own.
What was the clingfilm for?

Cling Film is to create a vacuum in the reservoir to slow down the flow when the system is open

Interestingly I decided as the failed sensor was broken then I had nothing to loose by flushing it out with brake cleaner. Once flushed I left it to dry in the sunshine and plugged it into the car and to my amazement the reading has come down from 4.56 to -0.48. Whether it works correctly or not when back on the car I don't know but if you have a faulty sensor it's worth cleaning it and possibly save yourself a wad of cash

presumably the lid has a small hole to allow air in otherwise fluid could not flow out the bottom

Yes Stuart, the brakes would not work if the lid was a tight seal

No more faults with the brake pressure sensors so today I gave Kära a wash today.
