Fire up the MIG... scuttled Amazon ahoy...
Well if that rust bucket went for over four grand, I'm at a loss to why this incomplete collection of Amazon-shaped parts isn't attracting attention...

The original link is a GT. Still over priced by £1k in my opinion but a very good GT will sell for £25 to £30k. It’s a candidate for a new shell realistically and recon the GT parts. I considered doing that with another GT but the guy was asking £6k and the shell was rotten and interior eaten by rats.

The one not selling is a 4 door so the least desirable/value and the seller is dishonest with the description so not helping themselves. A good 4 door is probably £10 to £15k.

the Car and Classic ad.
Seller needs to do more research , his factoids about production numbers are way off.
Clear lacquer over silver would suggest 2 stage paint , this tells me it was recently resprayed ? Also signs of filler on sills in side on view.
Cellulose would be period correct?? It's only original once.
Nothing wrong with a respray , just don't like to be told it's original paint.
Not keen on the "Hot wheels" look either.
Ps. mine was resprayed ,badly .There was evidence of Barrier coat under the paint.

The last 10 seconds may be more revealing.🤔

The Ocean wheels would sell quickly, but yes, originality and this car aren't bedmates...

Barrier as in zinc or red oxide? Sensible precaution if the underlying bodywork has been taken to bare metal. Although I'd still phosphate first.

Thank you for that, I have now educated myself as to the significance of the GT designation;

Barrier coat is often used as a layer between different paints to prevent bubbling

Oh aye, I use shellac for all sorts, as "shellac sticks to anything, and everything sticks to shellac". Limited applications in post-war cars tho'

What else would you use for automotive paints (ie cellulose/2pak)?

Do we really think an immaculate low-mileage GLT is only worth £3k? I'd say comfortably more. A less desirable model, maybe, but I'd expect a premium for a GLT (for right or wrong).

cheers

James
