"It's not you, sir, it's the car." "A Saab 900?" "Yes, sir. Smugglers seem to like them." "So they should - they're bloody god motors. Now can you put the door cards back, please? Apparently, loading the Saabs up made little difference to stance or even performance and the Dover stop-and-search stats were good for that model of car.

They had an Astra Van , it was always "Draggin' Ass" and weighed down with rollers of various size and weight. I wondered at the time ,why not a RWD van where the weight sat on the drive wheels ,rather than dragging it from the front (FWD). I wasn't the boss , is probably the answer.

Now, repurposing Maggie's P5 sans armour plating plus a ton or two of Columbia's finest would be an epic stunt to pull on Border Force! |

OK, if you haven't gone to bed yet, here's a corker for £5k.
Recent (2018) resurrection and low miles. Registered Dec '83 so Historic April 2024 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175383485960 Just round the corner from me too! Bit pricy for a 2.1 auto DL, but seems a nice one. |

No mention of the timing belt and when it was last changed or the fact it seems to be parked on grass when not in use (not good for any car, much less a 40 year old one!) and no inside or underbonnet shots. Also he has zero feedback.................

Thanks Loki,
Well as they say, you learn something new every day!! Had found a few images online of conversions, but I think the best one could say about the result would be 'it looks rather unresolved'!! https://m.facebook.com/3078831762791...3078476426247/ What it really needs is a proper handcrafted rear end, I 'dabbled 'with the thought for a few months a couple of years ago, but then binned the idea as a body change to Estate looked as though it would then need to go down some sort of vehicle approval route, SVA or whatever applied at the time, as no doubt it would be several years ahead to complete a restoration and conversion😀😀 Oh well, this madcap idea lead me in a rather convoluted way into my 940 ownership, Amazon estate might sate my hankering...... Cheers Steve |
