What model was your first Volvo? - Page 2

A late model (92) 240 SE estate bought as a short term car for moving various things around and to replace my dying Ford. Cosseted all of its life with a FSH and only 80K on the clock, three generations of the one owner family came to say goodbye to it on the day I picked it up in High Wycombe! Little did I know at the time that this would be the first of a number of 240's (with a 760 & 940 thrown in for variety!) that I would own.

Sold it to an antique dealer in Bath via ebay where it is still going strong carrying various items of 'cash in the attic' tat to and from France on a monthly basis.

My first Volvo was a 1993 440 Xi 1.8 in White.

Usual rust round the rear arches but was a sound drive. Bought it for £200 and sold it a year and 15,000 miles later for £450..... Bargain!!

1990 740 GL,bought to help me out while I rebuilt my Saab 2.3 Turbo Engine,ran it for a year, then replaced it with a 945 .The 740 was untill recently a Taxi in Lincoln.My daughter now has the Saab.

1981 244GLE with overdrive. Silver with black leather. It did not have PAS but I fitted it myself, as well as cruise control. Truely wonderful car. It did 233,000 miles before I swapped it for the 855 T5. I also aquired a 1953 PV444 about 6/7 years ago that only goes out in the dry, but not recently as it has a brake problem.

my first volvo was a 2L 10v manual 850 glt black L reg then i chopped it in for a P reg v70 2.5 20v auto metallic blue then i chopped that in last year for a R reg saffron v70 R AWD 2.3t auto

, this sweet little babys not going anywhere for a long time.

First car full stop was an F plate 340DL, 1.4.
Easier to get my bikes inside when racing than the Metro, Nova, etc I thought I might end up with as a new driver (then again my Dad's influence maybe had something to do with it, he ran from a 340 1.7 to a 360GLT to a 240 estate to two 740 estates, to a 850 2.5 and now a V70 2.4).
Changed the 340 for a J-plate 940 2.0T estate.
Then "deserted" to BMW 3-series (320D "estate") due to company car rules at work in 1999

Luckily I got made redundant at the end of last year so made it back into the comfortable world of Volvo with a 54 plate V70 D5SE

Actually wished I'd managed to keep both the 340 (great little run around) and the 940 (what couldn't be fitted into the back of that one ????). But never mind, life moves on....

1973 white 144S which i converted to B20E with O/D and LPG ..
Then 1980 343 DL yellow
then 1983 360 GLT,
back to the yellow one now ...
