It's not complicatedx but I would removebit first and do it at warm home first. Problem is AC gas which will go out and later you need to refull

I think I have figured out what happened,-the compressor itself is seized up.
It has probably been acting up for quite a while and burned off the rubber from the clutch assembly and then when I heard the "BRRRRR"-sound weeks ago it got stuck for real and wrecked the clutch. That's what I think happened judging from the damage on the clutch. The clutch didn't simply just fall off, it was torn off and banged up pretty good. I could buy a compressor and replace it myself but I was at a Volvo garage today and the labour cost was just a fraction of the unit itself so they're taking it in next monday morning. |

That's a relief, plus the air con compressor is the only one with a stretch belt.
If it was on the accessory belt, it would've probably been a different matter! |

The mechanic at Volvo assured me that there is a third belt and that I could just cut it off before driving any further. That's what you get from changing stuff in a badly lit garage on an engine that you're not yet familiar with. |
