I regularly (weekly) run my XC60 down to the light, and fill up usually with about 30-40 miles left.
When filling, the pump 'clicks' about the 68-70litre mark. I can then get another 5 litres in to the brim.
Have regularly put in 75 litres so there must be nearer 78-80 litres capacity in total.

One of the downsides of upgrading from V60 to V90 is the reduced fuel tank capacity in the V90. V60 capacity 67l v V90 55l.

It's an annoying trend in all new car designs. Must be something to do with reducing the weight. It becomes rather silly when you look at the LR Disco Sport which only has a 55 litre tank and rather unimpressive fuel consumption. Autocar commented that filling the tank was necessary every 400 miles. I regularly go over 700 miles and even managed 800 when doing a long Scottish tour last year.
