Its never gone above this point though so should be ok?

Thanks

I wasn't referring to yours, which sounds normal.
Sorry for any confusion.

IAT is at the intake manifold post intercooler so will be a very accurate way of telling whether your actually getting the cooler air you're hoping for.
The differential between IAT and ambient is also an effective way of assesing your intercooler performance.

No problem had me worrying then lol!

Is the IAT different on the newer models mine is a 2003 (but seems to be 2002 technology as i have completely blanked the EGR with no lights)?

Im pretty sure my IAT is located in the maf as a small thermister attached to the MAF module?

I dont seem to have any sensors fitted post EGR mixer on mine from what i remember on strip down?

I will try and use my Bluetooth reader to get some figures on way home tonight (not as good as the DICE but that is at home)

Hmmm....... just checked Haynes and it says, like you say, that the IAT is incorporated in the MAF which goes against info I've previously had from another forum (that'll teach me)
I know Haynes can be fallible but surely not on that.
Don't knock your cheap reader. At the end of the day, its live data uses the same sensors as Dice.

So you haven't had the engine fault light trigger having done this? I thought the EGR was monitored by the ECU (or maybe this isn't the case on the older D5's).

I'm sure I saw a thread a while back where someone did this, but had to drill a small hole to allow some gases through to avoid the fault light triggering?

The 185bhp requires the drilling mod.
The 163 is plug (the hole) and play.

The Bluetooth one is a bit fiddly to use on phone, thats the only reason im not too fussed on it.

That and it doesnt report the right fault codes, just generic ones. You are right in what you say though for live data....when it wants to connect that is lol.

I have the Euro 3 engine which doesnt have a DPF. There are some older models like mine where you dont need the hole in the centre, which is excellent as it means no exhaust gasses get in

Ive given it a good run down the motorway up to redline and had no error lights on (doing 70 i must add ) so looking good so far!

So far so good, 120 miles down and still spotless.

I noticed the oil around the mixer tube from the rubber pipe which connects to it. This has been through the parts cleaner this afternoon and is also spotless now. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

I'm not sure its as clear cut as that?

I used to have a 2003 163hp D5 that would not produce an emissions message if the EGR was blanked.

I now have a 2003 163hp XC70 D5 that requires a 15mm hole to keep the ECU happy.

Externally both engines look identical.

I think the differences started around 2003/4 when the fuel table was changed to meet tightening emission rules.
