Thing is, what is considered a ''decent amount more'' ??

My opinion is that the V60 is priced far too close to the XC60....ie the V60 should be considerably cheaper than an XC60. Looking at the list pricing of the two models there is only about a couple of grand between a V60 and an XC60.

I have done....lol...!!!!!! Madness I agree!!

In fact when pricing up any Volvo model, one always comes back to the XC60 as the best all round value if buying (rather than leasing)

XC60 leasing was a non-starter for me.
I looked at the Volvo website for a D4 auto with a few bells and whistles mid range Momentum as a possible replacement for my wife's current car. 9500€ deposit and c.700€/month not including insurance.

I then priced up a V40 cross country D4 ended up uncomfortably close to 50000€.

Explains why there aren't more Volvo's on the road in Germany.

I did a quick configuration for a V60 Geartronic, Business Edition, Front Park Assist, Metallic Paint, D4 engine to compare against the XC60 I have on order, a manual but otherwise pretty much the same as the V60. The XC60 is £5k more. I would consider £5k a decent amount

The V60 range, with D4 engine, manual to give a fair comparison, starts at £24,645. The XC60 D4 manual starts at £31,260, £6.5k difference.

I think that is a fair gap between the two models.

Looking at the local forecourt there are XC60s about 6 to 9 months old ex Volvo UK staff cars for about the same price as new V60s.

As my next vehicle will be a purchase rather than a lease with a hoped for long life (may be my last car - who knows) these used XC60s do look tempting.

Yes indeed, BUT and its a big BUT - that is comparing a Business Edition V60 with an SE XC60 - different specs.

When comparing manual V60 with manual XC60 say BOTH in SE guise the V60 is £29,645 and the XC60 is £31,260 - less than £2k difference..!! Same with SE LUX - less than £2k difference. Even when going to D5 variants the XC60 is only £3k dearer yet has the benefit of AWD to boot..!!

Regards

The thing is the Germans predominantly buy German cars, the same in France and Italy. We have no mainstream British cars, we just assemble Japanese/American etc cars
