  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

The cambelt should be changed at 80000 miles or 8 years which ever comes first , it seems you are overdue ! As long as you stick to the manufacturers schedule and most importantly use the genuine parts ie. cam belt , and auxillary belt , and check the idler pulleys spin freely with no noise and check the water pump spins freely and smoothly and doesnt leak you wont have any problem until the next belt change ..
you don't need to change the tensioner pulley it is ultra high quality , thats why they changed it in mid 1998 model production to a replacable one , to save costs ...

Now that i've realised that the Cambelt indeed requires a change, can anyone recommend any independant garages that can do this for me in London (preferably as East as possible). Hopefully they can do the same job a little cheaper than what my local Volvo garage will (had a mild heart attack when they told me a price).

all done. Cambelt and auxilliary belt changed for £216 (inc. vat). Braydon Motors (Independant Volvo Specialists), 020 8985 0336.

Mentioned this in another thread but I got a £500 quote from Riverside main dealer in Doncaster.

Man drives into a dealership, considers his actions and drives off again. Its a mini adventure as they say.
