I'm sure they are supposed to drop slightly but I never really noticed it on mine. I can't check, sorry, because as I said, I sold it and it is still at the garage in the photo.
I would try and contact the people you bought it off, especially for the wheel nut key. They can be a real pain. It took me two days with a couple of impact sockets to remove a set on one of my other Volvos.

I'm planning to phone the dealer in the morning, not starting work until 10 tomorrow so should be able to catch them before I have to leave home. I was hoping it might be something simple like a fuse blown that controls the windows dropping but I know I'm just clutching at straws really. It's just annoying it didn't do this before I bought it, I only had the roof down twice!

I know I should have checked to make sure the manual winding tools and the wheel nut key were there, I guess I was just so fixated on checking the car was genuine and the roof worked (not that it made any difference in the end!) that checking for bits like that just slipped my mind.

I know that feeling with the excitement of buying a new car. When I bought my convertible I did not know about the tools but I will check if I buy another.
Good luck with this.

Good luck
I've just bought my 2003 convertible, and it works fine for the moment.

I don't think it's gonna be a big issue if it was working normally, a fuse or something ....

Good luck, keep us informed

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, saw your car for sale over the past few weeks, looked a nice example.
We have just recently picked up our 2001 C70 from a local independent Volvo garage, luckily I had plenty of time to read the forums etc. about tools 'A' and 'B' for manual roof operation as we added various bits to the car which took a few extra weeks to complete.

Good luck and hope all goes well when you contact the garage.

The windows don't drop when you open the door, so no problem there , I thought I didn't have the tools for mine , but found them in the boot in the cubby hole on the left. They are quite small tools.

Have you got the cd boot changer fitted in yours? I don't seem to have a cubby hole but I do have the boot changer and could imagine the recess for that is used as a cubby hole if the changer isn't fitted so no luck finding them there

Thanks for the suggestion though

Yes , no CD changer on mine , hope you figure this out and all is well.

On a brighter note The tools from Volvo are very cheap.

Really? I just assumed they would be expensive, I will give my local dealer a call tomorrow and see if they are available.

Reading through lots of other posts it seems like it could just be one of the microswitches, probably the one in the c pillar as that has to activate before the boot storage lid will rise. The biggest issues seems to be if you replace a microswitch the whole system then has to be reset by volvo, bet they charge a fair bit for that! Just hope the warrenty or the dealer I bought it from will cover it without any issues
