I see no point in not getting the geartronic though, you can always add the paddles on the steering wheel if you think you will want to change gear yourself. Cars have so many gears now you'll be forever changing gear with manual.
I've never had heated windscreen before my V40 and yes when I drove it for the first time it was very noticeable, for me though I've now grown used to it and hardly notice it, after all you look through the glass not at it, with night time driving you do get a noticeable lattice glare to bright lights.

Agree with the gearing it is high making A road driving at 50 usually more economical in 5th. Not sure about the petrol engine but the D4 at least has the torque take advantage of the tall gearing in my opinion.

I am sure you will be more than pleased with the new D4. My wife has the "previous" 5-pot D4 with 180bhp and geartronic. Nice combo, but it does feel like the old GT needed a 7th or even 8th gear! Something Volvo changed with the new VEA engine and GT.

Btw, I have driven the new D4 in a V60, manual. A report is posted here on the forum, but in the V60 section. Great experience. A slight metallic sound to remind you of the old 5-pots. Fast and reasonable on the mpg, car was new mind.

I would also opt for the GT + paddles. Great fun. Use it all the time on my Audi....hrm, sorry.

The heated windscreen is also something we have on the wife's car. Never notice the wires as I tend to look past them (as one should). Had it even on my very first car back in the early 90's (Sierra) and also there was never noticable. Works like magic in winter

That's not bad going for a factory order! Mines down as 10 weeks at the moment showing as end of Feb. Though the dealer reckons it'll be end of Jan/early Feb! Bet you can't wait to get back to it!

I dread to think tbh what condition it is going to be in, although the MX5 is in for another 4 wheel geo before it gets a detail so probably the MX5 will steal sometime first. Knowing me I will have a nose under it as well .

My wonderful mother has already parked hers in second so the new V40 could get the final clean! poor thing.
