Thank you very much for your kind comment! I've refered to so much stuff on this forum that I decided to write up any project I do on either of my Volvos
In answer to your question about the axle stands, I put them underneath and to the rear of the front subframe

Good article thanks.
Just a note to add. Had a clunk/rattle in the front suspension of 2000 S80. I tested everything but could not find any bushes in bad shape. Fault turned out to be the Shock absorber. When i bounce tested the car the shock worked on compression but not on extension. |

Just browsing for the drop link parts and, the Meyle ones look to be £34 each on ebay on the partsforvolvo ad, double what was quoted on the first post.
Or have I missed something? Steve |

Got mine from Partservice in Exeter 01392 215635. They were under £15 each +VAt + delivery
I rang Meyle UK and asked where I could buy the parts locally. They advised me that Partservice was my local agent. Guess you could do the same!

Yes, excellant article (as usual from Swedishandgerman) - I know what Rublehousen means about the last few turns of the nuts, particularly the lower ones - in my case these had quite a bit of rust on them, so they were very difficult to get off. It didn't help that the inner torx stripped out on one because of the rust so in the end I had to use a mole wrench to hold the screw while I turned the nut. The allen key holes on the Meyle parts are a much better design approach.
Two problems I had which haven't been mentioned - first, it was difficult to get much leverage on the nuts with the torque wrench because of the limited amount of room if you are only using axle stands, second, you really need a quite deep 15mm socket on your torque wrench when trying to tighten it because this screw seems to protrude a long way (much more than the 18 mm one) and a standard socket probably will not have enough depth when you really want to apply the pressure. Boy does it make a difference - all the noise has gone - the bottom bolts on mine were shot to pieces after 10 years. |

I have done this job more times than you can shake a stick at (particularly on Volvos)!
I don't bother to unbolt the old ones, just cut them off with a slitting disc in a grinder. That way I get the whole job done in about 20 minutes ![]()
