Recently noticed my horn xc60 2010 had gone from dual tone horn to single, which sounds a little too weak. Ordered new horn and fitted. Remove drivers front right wheel and inner arch cover and it's located behind that with easy access on two 8mm bolts.

On examining why old one had failed there are link cables between the two horns and clip connectors, I opened these and there was very bad corrosion, no doubt I could have cleaned it up and it would have worked for a while but a new one gives piece of mind

I rebuilt a Jago Jeep kit car. I did all the ridiculous things that teens with money do to their cars, including fitting a replica of the air horn from the Dukes of Hazzard's General Lee. Hilarious.

I tried it again and it was quiet I then realised I had pressed the edge of the horn zone in the wheel and it appears that when your press the centre 2/3 you get the full horns, when you press the edge you only get a single horn at reduced volume.

I am not sure if this is design or error, but it does mean that I can give an 'attention' beep by quickly touching the edge rather than a full blown "watch where you are going" blast
That could explain why I have been underwhelmed by the horn. On my previous 4 cars a press near the edge was enough for the full horn. In an emergency when I have thought some lane-changer was about to hit me I have switched on the voice control as well which is on the spoke of the steering wheel!
