Just checked in on this having developed a rear suspension knock.

If i go 60mm and fit the rear adjustable dampers will that help prevent the bottoming out when weight is carried?

Be quite rare, heaviest stuff is morrisons shopping and cases for holidays.

With 60mm drop you want to trim the bump stops but most important is you need adjust the panhard rod bar to recentre the axle.

Your shopping from Morrisons will not be a problem even with passengers in the back

I fitted 8" 250lb coilover springs up on the front of mine (see pic vs stock springs with 2.5 coils cut off) and I've got 10" 200lb springs to go on the rear, they're much stiffer than stock but the front only bottoms out on big bumps at above 30mph. I'm going with the shortened strut and shock mod and that'll cure that.

I'm running about 70-80mm lower than stock ride height and the handling is still ok. I'm tempted by Kaphlenke quick roll adjusters but that'll be in the future.

This is with 8" springs on the front and 2 coils removed from the rears.

As an update to this I now have some of the kaplhenke roll center correctors with quick steer option on them.

I did not see any point in starting from scratch when such a well made product exists that is tried and tested and known to work.

Hi Dai,

I'm still interested to see a side on pic of a car with the 60/40 springs fitted - know of any?

This is my GLT fitted with classic swede 60/40 springs. I had to take the rears back off as it looks like it's knackered at the back. Fronts didn't go low enough either. Still on the look out for a better set up. They did improve how the car drove and no where near as harsh as I thought they'd be. Awkward lowering the rear down off the jack though as the rear springs come off the rubber cone because they are so short. Got to have someone lower the jack slowly while you locate the top of the spring every time
