Most stage 1 remaps seem to be around £300-£400 approx (give or take)and whilst you will never get turbo increases it might give you about 10_20 bhp easily which is actually areasonable amount.
Of course a T5 is the instant fix but you will pay a lot more.

Still not a huge amount unfortunately.

By the time you've spent a small fortune buying + fitting the new parts, and the extra insurance costs that go with modding the car, you'll probably find it cheaper to have sold your current car and bought a T5 which is a much better starting point.

I'd say your looking at ~£1k for the downpipe/exhaust/remap even using 2nd hand parts for the exhaust, I'm not sure what "extras" you'll need as well as that though.

From my understanding a free flowing exhaust on a non-turbo car can actually *lose* you power as they need a certain amount of back pressure. (I could be talking rubbish here ... )

Power gain .. 20hp? £50 per horsepower or thereabouts.

The downside of buying a T5 over your current n/a is that you'll be spending a LOT more on fuel - but if you're in a search for power then it sounds like fuel costs aren't much of an issue?

For comparison: A friend of mine spent £thousands rebuilding his Saxo engine for more power - this was a n/a engine too, so it had expensive things like Jenvy throttle bodies, race cams, new rods+pistons to tweak the cc, custom map, custom exhaust manifold+downpipe and exhaust. Grand total after all that ... an extra 60whp and an engine that threw its oil all over the track during its first track day.

yea petrol costs are much more in a T-5 My old 850 20V did me 20mpg my lovley fast T-5 does 17 mpg

Mind you I wanted a T-5 and living in London it does stop start trips and does not go on long runs offen so that said it might do 18-19mph on long trips

Very unlikely you'll notice any difference with just an air filter and an exhaust.

If I had the choice of spending for a remap or a new exhaust, it would be the remap every time, the exhaust will make more noise, the remap will actually make more power.
