do you get problems with it running rich? my brother had his volvo de-catted and it ran a little bit poo for a while (stopped throwing water out the exhaust so im assuming timing was changed by the ECU automatically), but once he had the lambda back in it ran just as it did before removing the cat and also passed the MOT without it too

Just remove it and run without. Ideally fit an electric fan but will not need that until it gets a lot warmer. Used to run my pick-up wihtout and just electric fan - it only cut in once in football traffic in Liverpool in very hot weather.

so i dont need the fan itself?? or do i remove the viscous and mount the fan back (if that is possible)...it costs 62.50 from GSF aswell, will do it one day though

what about if i find a second hand one? will that be feasable or is it not really worth it?

Just remove the fan complete and bolt the pulley back on. Replace when ready!

Hi,

There is details on here somewhere for the electric fan replacement.

A reasonable MOD for these vehicles as the Viscous coupling doe swear out.. and at £60 + a throw not that cheap.

If you remove the fan, DO keep an eye on your engine temp. Make sure the gauge works!!

I fitted a Kenlowe fan kit to a BMW I had years ago which was well designed and easy to install.

jim c - i dont want an electric one though i like the volvo roar and love the noise (apart from the current noise which resembles a huge clickidy clacker on a bike LOL)

can i fit a fan of a viscous of a merc or BMW (if they have one)?? never ever seen a volvo in a scrappy but when ever i go there are plenty of 5 series and 190's
