It says it's a 6 disc player so your unit must have the changer. Is it ejecting and playing a single disc? If so I would leave well alone - they are notoriously fragile.

If you take the unit out there is a DIN socket for an external CD changer. If this has a lead in it then you probably have a connection in the boot somewhere. This socket is also where you plug in a Grom unit (or similar), which allows you to play MP3s and is much better than messing about with CDs.

Mt recently purchased 2004 also had an internal CD changer that failed to work as it had CD's jammed in it. I dismantled it to get the discs out but it still refused to play. Interestingly the "external" CD changer feed had a lead in but I have not been able to locate the other end yet! I opted for a cheapo ebay £60 usb adapter that fits into that external CD changer port and it works very well even with the steering wheel buttons.

If you have RTI (sat nav) then the connection will go to the DVD drive and / or TV tuner in the boot.

Sorted DOh!!! The changer is in the machine, but you need to select which disc you want, I only discovered this by accidentally pressing buttons and the screen said, No Disc, but there was a disc in the machine, so I thought, Ah!!!

Thanks for all your help
Cheers

To keep it going only use original CDs and not blanks you've written yourself - that's how I destroyed ours.

No idea - I put one in but it stopped playing and then wouldn't eject and the unit just says CD error. I abandoned it and use a Grom now, which is much better in any case and I have hundreds of tracks on one USB stick.

When CDs were common it was often a warning not to use writeable disks in some audio equipment and certainly not cheap ones.

I have used writable CD's in cars (and other players) for years and have some now in my HU 803 and they are working fine (for the moment!). The times I did have problems with them, was when I used to put my own labels on. They looked good, but the placement of them could never be perfectly central and I think it can set up a bit of a "wobble" on the disc causing it to eventually fail. Now I just use marker pen.
